Sun, 22 November 2009 Ever been hustled? If you’ve played pool, a pick-up game with the

you probably have. Way back in the day in the book of Genesis (from the

anyone who crossed his path. Funny thing is, God was able to use this
“Natural-Born Hustler” to play a key role in God’s plan for humanity. |

Sun, 1 November 2009 Have you ever felt like you were being haunted by something? Maybe it was just a creaky floorboard in an old house or a noisy icemaker in a new refrigerator, but you thought it was poltergeist or the Blair Witch. Well, there are three totally legitimate anxieties that have haunted mankind throughout the ages. (No, they don’t have anything to do with the Browns, Cavs, or Indians, but that was a good guess.) We fear these things because they are extremely real, and if we don’t face them – they will completely and utterly destroy us. On a brighter note, God tells us that he is the only being in the universe who can scare these ghosts away… |

Sun, 11 October 2009 Jesus created parables – stories with spiritual meaning – to teach his audiences. Paul, the author of many of the letters that we now call “books” of the Bible, quoted mainstream poets and plays in his writings. Both used creative ways to teach regular people about a God who desires to know and to lead us. On that note, every year Momentum discusses some of the most popular films that have been released over the last year. We ask, “What eternal truths can we learn from these popular stories? How can these movies be used as parables that move us forward to love God, love people, and serve the world?” |

Sun, 6 September 2009 Jesus had a very clear mission when he came to earth. He even tipped his hand a few times and told his friends what some of his personal mission statements were. In fact, he was so laser-focused on his assignment that it rubbed off on his followers…and changed the world forever. Were you also placed here for a reason? How would your life be different if you knew beyond the shadow of a doubt what God’s purpose for your life was? If you knew why you were here, two things would be certain: |

That may help us all decide if we really want to follow him and imitate him as the ultimate leader and role model of our lives. For example, what did Jesus mean when he said, “I am the Good Shepherd”? Let’s ask God to guide us as we unpack these metaphors. |

Sun, 21 June 2009 In a country where the Christian faith appears to be dominated by men, the truth is that 60% of the people who claim to follow Jesus are females. Women are easily today’s heroes of the faith, and we owe a lot to them for their hard work and sacrifice. Come and get inspired by the life of a guy who stepped up to lead at a time when his people needed leaders. |

Sun, 20 April 2008 Back in 1980, Pac-Man was released in the U.S., and we were overtaken with something called "Pac-Man Fever." What lessons can we learn about faith from the hours, days, and perhaps weeks spent in a beanbag chair in front of the TV with a controller in our hands? You'd be surprised. Come prepared to be stretched and challenged by four down-to-earth messages on one of America's favorite pastimes... |

Sun, 29 July 2007 Maybe a friend turned their back on you. Maybe someone you loved
betrayed you. We all have wounds and we end up carrying around these
things that people have done to us for weeks, months, and sometimes
even years. It isn't always easy to forgive these people and after a
while these hurts can get really heavy. So the only way to feel better
seems to be somehow getting back at the people that hurt us, to get
revenge. But does revenge ever truly satisfy? Maybe forgiving isn't
something you do for someone else to let them off the hook. Maybe
forgiveness is about you. God didn't create you to carry these wounds
around. God created you to be free. |

Sun, 1 April 2007 For the next four weeks, Momentum is talking about the good stuff -- relationships. Let's talk about roommates who won't do their own nasty dishes, bad dates who make us believe we are the only normal single people left on Earth, and soul mates that we want to hold on to until we flatline. Who doesn't need help with this stuff? Whether you're single, dating, engaged, married, or divorced, God has a lot of practical advice about how to "love people" even better than we might be right now. |

Sun, 4 March 2007 When you or your unchurched friends go to church, do you feel like everyone acts like they are better than you? Do you feel like the preacher/priest is just preaching at you, trying to get you to confess all of the sin in your life... but they don't have anything to confess themselves? Is so, this has probably put a bad taste in your mouth about church. If that's your story, this is the Sunday to show up at Momentum... |

Come and learn some basic principles on how to get your finances in order, climb out of debt, and trust God more with your Benjamins. |
